This has been a very exciting week for Nimbus School of Recording Arts. Our students recorded an astronaut and sat in on an Alice Cooper Soundcheck, plus two famous musicians stopped by the school for visits, and our co-founder Bob Ezrin was in town from Nashville! Keep reading to find out more about our amazing week!
1. Sunday: Our amazing week began on Sunday with a live recording session at Science World with now infamous singing astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield as part of the Innovators Speaker Series. This was an exciting and unique opportunity for our students and Nimbus instructor Scott Ternan (who admits to being just a little bit starstruck). Check out the photos!
Also on Sunday, 10 lucky students journeyed over to Nanaimo for a rare opportunity to sit in on an Alice Cooper soundcheck! You can read more about that day over here at the blog post. Check out the photo of the Nimbus crew on the Alice Cooper set:
2. Wednesday: On Wednesday this week we had a visit from Juan Alderete, Grammy winning bass player from The Mars Volta stopped by for a tour of Nimbus and a visit with our co-founder GGGarth Richardson. Juan said he was “blown away” by Nimbus’ facilities and offerings to students.
3. Thursday: Nimbus co-founder Bob Ezrin visited the school on Thursday to spend time with our students and give feedback on their EP projects. While he was here we also had a visit from singer/songwriter Johnny Reid who has just finished recording an album with Bob in Nashville. Johnny had a show at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver last night. Johnny spent some time with our students and gave his own feedback, alongside Bob, on a few of the production student EP projects. It was a real treat to have Johnny visit the school and offer his advice to students. Bob and the students had a great time visiting and everyone looks forward to his next visit in the near future!
Last but not least, on Thursday night was the Peak Performance Project Finale concert at The Commodore Ballroom. Several of our students and faculty helped out with live sound and video for the event. Our Director of Education, Shawn Cole and Instructor Scott Ternan ran the desk for the event.
It was a great night for everyone and we were very pleased and surprised to be honoured with a gold record from The Peak 102.7 for our sponsorship. Our student volunteers were also honoured for all their hard work at the Peak Performance Bootcamp and beyond. It truly has been an amazing week to be part of the Nimbus family!
